Evaluation

The pre production work was extremely helpful in many ways as it gave me an opportunity to fully understand the task and connect with a better thought process. The pre production work included,  my personal mood board, a collaboration of my groups mood board, crew list, materials list, script, the proposal, outline, various sources of  research , risk assessment, budget sheet and  the synopsis.
The mood boards and the collaboration of mood boards helped give us a clearer view of the intended nine minute documentary by enabling us to see what we needed to prepare in order to film. We collected a variety of images and text. These were the connotations we associated with ‘horror’ and ‘ghost haunting’ films.
The storyboard helped greatly as it was a structured template of how we wanted our nine minute documentary to look. The storyboard came into great use when we finally got round to shooting. Our storyboard was our guideline and became so useful to us a group when filming. We knew exactly what shot we were going to shoot, what was going to happen in that shot and how long it was going to last. Our story board was regularly altered in some places but we made sure it was like the final product exact.  We used our storyboards for a variety of things but mainly to show what shot types we wanted to use and when. Without the storyboard our end result would have not been as effective as it has been using a storyboard. Each of my peers in my group had a storyboard of our own and we were able to take them out with us shooting.
The crew list, allowed us to stay in touch and communicate when needed to. This list also provided each member of the team, with an awareness of each other’s roles of the production. Any various problems that were encountered we were able to discuss with the minimum of effort as we knew which person to involve in the discussion.
The material list was a great help as each member of the team knew and was responsible for the items they needed to source. This list also gave each member sole responsibility for their provisions. This list was updated regularly and altered in accordance with which ever task we were working on.
Both primary and secondary research involved many in depths study and contacts e.g. Websites, literature, and on site location visits. The research we used was formed over many weeks of studying in lessons, homework, and any other free periods we had. The more research the better. Once the final product was complete on reflection the amount of research covered really aided the completion of the task as we had various reference points to consistently look back on.

Our production schedule allowed us to plan the days we worked hard on our pre-production, and when we went out on location to shoot.   Our production schedule was helpful as it made it easier for us along a deadline. We may not have always followed the production schedule timetable but we made sure we got it done either in or outside of time in lesson.
The script was a laborious task that enabled us to understand the characters and storyline and this intern triggered the process of camera angles and filming techniques. The script was my responsibility for this task and so time and effort went into the research so that the end product was suitable and appropriate.
